The Design of the Universe in Plato and Aristotle’s Philosophy Platon ve Aristoteles Felsefesinde Evren Tasarımı
Abstract
Mankind has always been interested in the origins of the universe, man's place in this world and the meaning of his existence. At every stae of social development formed a certain level of public consciousness. Philosophical thought of the ancient Greek society was under a religious and mythological basis. The formation of scientific and philosophical outlook on the basis of religion is not accidental. Liaison role was played here by first teaching Hesiod. One of the topics to think it was a problem of origin of the cosmos, the universe. In other words, it was a reflection on the cosmogony. Gradually, these ideas were purged of religious and mythological layers, to get more scientific form. In general, the scientific basis for thinking about space for the first time led Thales, whose ideas were raised by Plato and Aristotle to new heights. Another common feature of the philosophers of the classical period of ancient Greek philosophy was the idea that the origin of life took place without the direct involvement of the Creator, the Almighty. The basis for the creation of the universe was the chaos that existed originally. God only gives shape to this primeval chaos. Here, God is seen as a cosmic entity that is not directly performing certain procedures. According to them, the presentation along with anyone else God will diminish the importance of it as a perfect being.
Bilimselfelsefi görüşün dini görüşten ayrılıp doğması, tabii, birdenbire hiç geçitsiz olmamıştır. Nitekim bir yandan Yunan doğa filozoflarının ilk düşünme denemelerine birçok mitolojik öğenin karıştığını görüyoruz; öbür yandan da, en eski filozofların ‘‘doğa üzerine’’ adını taşıyan yapıtlarıyla mitoslar ve Tanrı masalları arasında bir ara basamağı buluyoruz. Bu ara basamak da eski ozanların theogonia’ları (Tanrıların doğuşu) ile kosmogonia’larıdır (Evrenin doğuşu). Bunlarda tanrıların, yarı tanrıların, insanların meydana gelişi üzerine birçok şeyler anlatır. Aristoteles, Metafizik’inin birinci kitabında, ilk felsefe tarihi denemelerinden biri olan bu taslakta, bu ‘‘En eskilerin’’, yani eski ozanların, bu konular üzerine eski filozoflardan daha önce düşünmüş olduklarını yalnız, bilimsel olarak değil de, dine bağlı kalarak düşündüklerini söyler.
