Aşıq Şəmşirin ingilis dilinə tərcümə olunmuş şeirlərindən biri «Dedim-dedi» adlanır. Bu şeiri ingilis dilinə Dorian Rottenberq tərcümə etmişdir. Bu qoşma lirik məzmunludur. Qoşmada sevgilinin gözəllikləri, mənəvi-əxlaqi keyfiyyətləri sadalanır, aşiqin iztirab çəkdiyi, öz sevgilisinə qovuşmaq istəyi ifadə olunur. Aşıq Şəmşir bu qoşmada aşıq ədəbiyyatın-da və klassik divan ədəbiyyatında məşhur olan «Dedim-dedi» formasın-dan istifadə etmişdir. The author has investigated the problems of English translation of the poems by Ashug Shamshir.
According to the author’s opinion the English translator Dorian Rottenberg mainly had kept up the conformity to the original and had brought Ashug Shamshir’s opinions to English speaking readers’ notice. But at the same time there are also defects in the translation. In some cases some discrepancies were added to the original, unnecessary interpretations were included in the text of the poems, some shades of ashug art were misinterpreted.
The author gives the possible translation variants of different words, verses in English and shows more correct version opportunities.
